Took a bus from Syracuse. Spent first set on the floor and second set in seats (general admission). Was pleasantly surprised by Bobby doing the set closer "Satisfaction." Plenty of highlights. Caught 25 shows and only saw the "Alabama Getaway" opener twice - at my first and last (3-19-95 at the Spectrum in Philly).

My very first Dead show. Jerry hooked me forever with that Bird Song. I guess Rochester was a Bird Song kind of town, because we also got an awesome one from Jerry and John Kahn acoustic in the same era :)

I'm not exactly sure what bobby is chewing, but I think Al is a little more sober in his judgement. This AUD sounds excellent. From the adjacent whistling and clapping, you can tell it's either a hand, cane, or stealth-hat held FOB. Very clean and clear with good position on the floor...and no blemishes - so far. It's a decent, average show. Nothing to write home about. And my only complaint is not having a little more outro crowd after each song. But with that said, Mr. Eaton et al has done a fine job of positioning and recording (because we all know getting a good seat is 90% of the game. The other 10% is not f#!$cking up after that.) Due to the quality of the AUD, I'm upping what would normally be a typically sterile SBD version.

for this first set i stood general admission down low and was in the groove with the rest of the floor, grooving as one as the band the hot this eve and so was the crowd, a real feeling of loose vibes and good dancin' as most of the heads were reeling on some good upstate herbals and the like (some baloons).
The first set featured some smokin' jams as you can hear, this was the last great Jerry period where he really felt the notes and concentrated on the rest of the bands cues.
It was a real pleasure to attend these good time general admission shows at the end of the "golden age" of the band. After this year the bad vibes set in and it was downhill from there, but damn........listen to the tapes man !

Thanks to Rob and Darrin for another piece of GD history. Hollow sound? Judge for yourself.
